An Antique c1930s Art Deco Crystal Glass 12k White Gold Filled Lavalier Necklace A very high quality formal necklace set in 12k white gold fill. Signed on the clasp 12k gf.
The necklace is in very good antique condition. The clasp works as it should. the necklace has multi faceted clear crystal glass stones that have been claw set. The necklace is 40cms or 15.75 inches long and the lavalier drops and additional from the 3.3cms from the necklace.
Weighs 8.5gms. This is a beautiful formal necklace for that special night out, wedding, engagement, anniversary or formal. Very hard to photograph as it kept reflecting on the camera lens. All stones are clear and bright and sparkly. Nearly 100 years old and certainly lasted the test of time.
I mainly sell Vintage and Antique gold filled jewellery.
VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE GOLD FILLED JEWELLERY IS NOT GOLD PLATED.
Vintage and Antique gold filled items have a solid layer of gold with an inner metal core which provides durability to your item, as gold is a soft metal. Think of it like a sandwich with solid gold on the front and back and an inner metal core made of silver or brass or other metals.
Victorian pieces are generally unmarked for gold content and hallmarking did not originally take place until after 1907. Even after this time the maker could choose to mark either the piece of jewellery or the box that it came in. Antique and Vintage Gold Filled Jewellery is normally 10kt 12kt or 14kt in gold content.
BE AWARE THE ABOVE EXPLANATION IS FOR VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE GOLD FILL JEWELLERY ONLY AND NOT MODERN MASS PRODUCED ITEMS BEING PRODUCED IN CHINA AND MARKETED AND SOLD AS GOLD FILLED.
THEY ARE NOT!!!!
GOLD FILLED JEWELLERY IS A TERM THAT SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE ITEMS THAT WERE MADE IN THE USA WHERE THEY WERE REGULATED FOR GOLD CONTENT WHICH BY LAW CANNOT BE ANY LESS THAN 1/20TH OF SOLID GOLD OF THE PIECE.
MODERN JEWELLERY MASQUERADING AS GOLD FILLED IS USUALLY UNMARKED FOR KARAT WEIGHT AND ITS MAKER IS UNREGULATED. THESE ITEMS ARE CHEAP AND INFERIOR GOLD PLATE.
