Genuine 1920s-1930s Art Deco Era
Stunning Antique Bangle Filigree Design Silver Metal with Rhodium Coating. Three bezel set Cognac Topaz coloured stones. Most probably paste but are untested and sold as is. The last photo which is a prop and does not form part of the sale shows a 1930s cataloge from Nu Wite made by Ripley and Gowan USA. Note they list the stones as gems.
Silver and White metals were all the rage at this time in history as was filigree. Jewellery makers used a Rhodium overlay to keep the pieces shiney and bright (Pure Rhodium is too brittle to use in jewellery) Rhodium is the most expensive metal in the world even out ranking Platinum and Palladium. Base metals were sterling, white gold, platinum or other white metals. It is impossible to tell without having an expert drill into the bracelet.
The bracelet has a double side clasp. The bracelet shuts securely and opens when you press the top and button button at the same time.
Very Good antique vintage condition These rhodium coated pieces of jewellery were made to last and as the photos show – they do. Age appropriate minor metal wear to the inside noted only. The filigree work is like spun sugar.
The bangle is 17cms or 6.75 inches on the inner circumference and the stones are 5mm across.. The bangle is 1cm wide. Weighs 10.4gms
This is a rare antique bangle and you are sure to get compliments regarding it when worn. Very Very pretty, collectible and wearable for day and night or special occasion.
